Learning Center Sundays
Learning Center Sundays
During the year, we host, as part of our Sunday morning worship, special Sunday events that we call Learning Center Sundays. At these events, groups of kids from the Learning Center get to present a special song in worship, and then afterwards get a chance to experience a taste of our Sunday children’s ministries. And on that day too, you get a chance to experience a bit like what Sundays are like at First Church. And to cap the day, we often have a special party afterwards, one you can participate in! For example, on the first Sunday in October, we host our Multicultural Food Fair. You get a chance to show off the best dishes from your culture, and even dress up yourself! We even offer a prize for the best food! And you’ll get a chance to sample awesome foods from around the world.
Then on Super Bowl Sunday, we host a soup contest after worship at what we call Souper Bowl. All the soups are free, but you buy votes to pick the best, with the winner (our Souper Bowl Champion) getting a prize apron and a gift certificate! All the funds raised from the votes go to feed hungry families in Hollywood. This event is part of a larger movement of churches and organizations that since 1990 has raised over 153 million dollars on Super Bowl Sunday to feed the hungry of our nation.
So, look for information on these Learning Center Sundays and others. Then come out and enjoy these special events, and at least one of these Sundays, you’ll have the opportunity to see your kids in concert too!
